Quick answer
Is Oneflare still running?
No. Oneflare closed on 30 June 2026. Airtasker, which bought Oneflare in 2022, retired the brand to focus on Airtasker, and the Oneflare website and app now redirect there. Tradies who relied on Oneflare for leads now choose between Airtasker, hipages, ServiceSeeking and channels they own, like a Google Business Profile and their own website.
Key takeaways
- Oneflare stopped operating on 30 June 2026 and its website and app now send people to Airtasker.
- Airtasker bought Oneflare in May 2022 for A$9.8 million, after the ACCC made enquiries but did not run a public review.
- The main paid alternatives are Airtasker (a service fee of 12.5% to 20% per task), hipages (subscription with lead credits) and ServiceSeeking (membership from $129 a month incl GST).
- Any reviews and profile you built on Oneflare no longer help you win work, so rebuild that proof on Google.
- The closure is the clearest lesson yet in owning your own lead channels.
What happened to Oneflare?
Oneflare was founded in 2011 and grew into one of Australia's bigger local services marketplaces, where customers posted jobs and businesses responded. In May 2022 Airtasker bought it for A$9.8 million, paid as A$7.55 million in Airtasker shares and A$2.25 million in cash. The deal was delayed by about a week while the ACCC made enquiries, but the ACCC did not run a public review.
On 30 June 2026 Airtasker retired Oneflare to focus on the Airtasker brand. Since then the Oneflare website and app redirect to Airtasker, and Airtasker's help centre has an article explaining the change for former users.
What does the closure mean for tradies who used Oneflare?
- The lead flow has stopped. If Oneflare filled part of your diary, that gap needs filling from somewhere else.
- Your Oneflare reviews no longer sell for you. Customers cannot find them on a platform that has closed, so they are not proof any more. Ask happy customers for Google reviews instead.
- Old links point nowhere useful. Remove Oneflare badges and links from your website, quotes and email signature.
- Your directory details may be out of date. If your business listings were partly built around Oneflare, check your name, address and phone are consistent on the platforms you still use.
What are the best Oneflare alternatives for tradies?
The paid alternatives charge in very different ways, so compare what a won job costs you in each, not the headline price.
| Option | How you pay | How leads are shared | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Airtasker | Service fee on each task you complete: 20% at Bronze, 18.5% Silver, 14.9% Gold, 12.5% Platinum, excl GST | Customers post tasks and choose from offers | Your fee drops as your completion rate and monthly earnings rise |
| hipages | Monthly subscription that includes lead credits. Third party trackers list plans from $139 to $649 a month plus GST | Up to 3 businesses can claim a lead | In 2023 hipages gave the ACCC an undertaking over renewal and cancellation terms |
| ServiceSeeking | Membership from $129 a month incl GST, no commission | A job receives an average of 4.6 quotes | Coverage of 10km, 20km or 50km, with 20% off quarterly and 40% off annual billing |
| Your own channels | Your time, or paid help for a website and SEO | Not shared, the customer contacts you | A Google Business Profile is free and keeps working when you stop paying |
Is Airtasker a good replacement for Oneflare?
It depends on your work. Airtasker suits smaller jobs and trades that can price a task quickly from a description, such as handyman work, assembly, cleaning, removals and small repairs. Because you pay a percentage of each completed task rather than a subscription, there is no cost until you win the work, but the fee comes off every job.
For bigger or regulated work such as electrical, plumbing and building, many customers still search Google first and check licences and reviews. That is where your own profile and website matter most.
Why owning your lead channels matters now
Oneflare's closure shows the risk in any rented channel. When a platform changes its model, raises prices or shuts, the profile, reviews and lead flow you built there go with it.
Channels you own keep working: a complete Google Business Profile, a fast website with a page for each service, reviews on Google and a steady stream of referrals. Lead sites can still fill gaps, as the hipages review explains, but they work best on top of your own channels, not instead of them.
Frequently asked questions
When did Oneflare close?
Oneflare was retired on 30 June 2026. Its website and app now redirect to Airtasker.
Who owned Oneflare?
Airtasker bought Oneflare in May 2022 for A$9.8 million and ran it as a sister brand until it was retired in June 2026.
Did Oneflare merge with hipages?
No. Oneflare was owned by Airtasker, not hipages, and it now redirects to Airtasker.
What happened to my Oneflare reviews?
Check Airtasker's help article on the Oneflare retirement for anything that applies to your account. Either way, reviews on a closed platform no longer help customers choose you, so start building reviews on Google.
What is the best alternative to Oneflare?
For small tasks, Airtasker. For trade leads with a subscription, hipages or ServiceSeeking. For leads you do not share with anyone, your own Google Business Profile, website and referrals. Most tradies do best with their own channels first and a lead site to fill gaps.
