A standard five page trade website is $999 to $2,500 one off, plus GST. Hosting and maintenance is $60 a month after that.
Websites for tradies that book jobs instead of just sitting there
What a tradie website actually has to do
A website for tradies has one job: turn a search into a booked job by making it easy to call, check your work and ask for a quote.
Most websites for tradies are built like a business card. A logo, a list of services, a contact form nobody tests, and that is the job done.
That is not what a trade website is for. Someone finds you because a hot water system has let go, a roof is leaking, or a switchboard is tripping. They are on a phone, they are not browsing, and they will call whoever makes it easiest to call.
Planned work is different. Someone pricing an extension, a pool or a solar system reads three or four sites before they ring. They want proof you have done jobs like theirs. A good tradie website serves both customers.
Why most tradie websites do not get calls
Four things account for nearly all of it.
The phone number is not obvious. If someone has to scroll or hunt for it, you have lost to the business whose number sits at the top of every page.
It is slow on a phone. Nearly all your traffic is mobile. A site that takes five seconds to load on a patchy signal loses the job before it appears.
There is no proof. Stock photos of someone else's van, no real jobs, no reviews on the page. Nothing that says you have done this before.
The enquiry goes nowhere. Contact forms fail quietly. If nobody has tested yours since it was built, assume it is broken, because plenty are.
What your tradie website should include
- A phone number that is tappable and visible on every screen without scrolling
- Real photos of your work, your van and your face, not stock images
- Your service area stated plainly, so people know you cover them
- Your licence number and insurance where people can see them, not buried
- A short quote form that asks for as little as possible and is tested every month
- Reviews on the page, not just on your Google profile
- Page titles written for what people actually type, not for your business name
- Your Google Business Profile connected properly to the site
If a quote for tradie website design is missing any of these, you are paying for a brochure.
The pages every tradie website needs
A home page that says what you do, where, and how to reach you, in the first screen.
One page for each service you want more of. Hot water, blocked drains, switchboards, roof restorations, retaining walls. Each page answers the questions customers ask about that job, and each one gives Google a clear reason to show you for that search.
Area pages only where you genuinely work, with real jobs from that area. Fifty copies of the same page with the suburb swapped rarely help and can drag the site down.
Projects or a gallery with a sentence or two about each job: the problem, what you did and where.
An about page with the real people who turn up, your licence and how long you have been operating.
Reviews and a contact page with your phone, a short form and your hours.
Pick the trade closest to yours
Every trade wins work slightly differently. An emergency plumber and a landscaper doing six week projects need different sites.
Explore websites for electricians, plumbers, roofers, landscapers, concreters, plasterers, pool builders, and solar installers.
Websites for builders and project trades
Builders, pool builders, landscapers and renovation trades sell bigger jobs with longer decisions. Their websites lead with project stories: the brief, the site, the build time and photos at each stage, then the services and a clear way to book a site visit.
Licence details matter even more here. In NSW a licence is needed for general building work worth more than $5,000, and clients can check it online, so put your number in the footer of every page.

How your website, Google profile and SEO work together
For local trade searches, Google usually shows a map with three businesses, then the website results. Your Google Business Profile gets you into that map, and your website backs it up by showing Google, and the customer, exactly what you do and where.
A great website that nobody finds does nothing, and a strong map listing that clicks through to a slow, empty site wastes the click. That is why the website comes first, then SEO for tradies puts it in front of people. The guide to ranking on Google Maps covers the map side.
What it costs
If you want the number for your own business, the cost calculator will give it to you in about thirty seconds.
How long it takes
One to two weeks once your content is ready. The hold up is almost always photos and words, not the build. I write the words, so what I need from you is real photos of your work.
Straight answers before you commit
What is the difference between a tradie website and a normal website?
A normal website tells people who you are. A tradie website is built to get the phone to ring. Tappable numbers, fast mobile loading, real proof of work, and a quote form that actually reaches you.
How much does a tradie website cost?
$999 to $2,500 one off plus GST for a standard five page build, then $60 a month for hosting and maintenance.
What pages should a tradie website have?
A home page, one page per service you want more of, area pages only where you genuinely work, a projects page, an about page with your licence, and a contact page with your phone number and a short form.
Do I need a website if I already get work from word of mouth?
Referrals still check you online before they call. A weak site can lose you a job that was already yours.
Will a website on its own get me more calls?
It is the foundation. Getting found is a separate job, which is what SEO for tradies covers.
Can I see examples of tradie websites?
Yes. The portfolio shows trade and service business websites I have built, and each trade page above links to relevant examples.
Do you only build websites for tradies in the Illawarra?
No. I build websites for trades across Australia, though I only take one business per trade per area.
Check if your area is still open
I only work with one business per trade per area, so I am not competing against my own clients. Take the free 15 second lead score quiz to see where your business stands, or check whether your trade is still available where you are.
